Oleksandr Kava: Modern Railway Infrastructure is Impossible without Active Involvement of the State

In 2021, for the first time in the modern history of Ukraine, the Government of Ukraine projected in the state budget funding for the purchase of new passenger cars and the development of passenger railway infrastructure, to improve the quality and speed of passenger railway transport. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Finance Oleksandr Kava during a speech at the All-Ukrainian Forum "Ukraine 30. Infrastructure".

During his report, Oleksandr Kava presented to the forum participants projects for modernization of passenger railway infrastructure in Ukraine, as well as spoke about the opportunities and benefits of implementing such projects. In 2021, the residents of Cherkasy, Zhytomyr and Vasylkiv will receive a qualitatively new railway connection. Funds are also provided for the launch of the project to restore the European gauge railway from Uzhhorod to Chop for new trains to EU countries.

"The development of modern railway infrastructure without state investment is impossible. It is a normal European approach when the state invests in railway transport. We have such an opportunity to develop railway transport and its infrastructure for citizens! The effect of this development will be great, people will be able to save the most expensive thing - their time. And time is the most valuable resource, that stimulates the economic activity of the citizens," summed up Olexandr Kava.
