Since the beginning of the year 2018, European financial markets have moved to a new level of regulation of the entry into force of the new legislation on markets in financial instruments, namely Directive (EC) 2014/65/EU on markets in financial instruments (MiFID II), Regulation (EC) 600/2014 of the markets in financial instruments (MIFIR) and a number of other acts of European legislation relating to them.

MIFIR highlights the requirement to have all issuers of identification code of the legal person (LEI)that allows you to get basic information about the company (address, jurisdiction of registration, name). Code LEI allows you to correctly identify the counterparty, including in cross-border operations. Trading venues in Europe are required to collect information about codes LEI all issuers whose securities are traded on them.

The Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) is a 20-digit, alpha-numeric code based on the ISO 17442 standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
