The Minister of Finance: "New IMF Program is important for maintaining financial stability"

Ihor Umansky held his first official meeting as the Minister of Finance of Ukraine. Today, on March the 6th, Mr. Umansky met with the IMF Resident Representative in Ukraine Mr. Gosta Ljungman.

During the meeting the parties discussed the current state of affairs and further steps of bilateral cooperation.

As part of constructive dialogue, it was stressed the importance of further cooperation between Ukraine and the IMF.

The Minister of Finance Ihor Umansky assured that active cooperation with the IMF, above all in the form of a New Program, is an absolute priority for Ukraine.

“The new IMF Extended Fund Facility is important for maintaining the financial stability and implementation of structural reforms in Ukraine, which is a priority for the Government. We continue to work actively with the IMF colleagues to launch the New Program, ”the Minister said.

The Minister proposed to organize a meeting between the Government's leadership and the IMF leadership in Washington in the nearest future to discuss further cooperation.

On December 2019, as a result of successful negotiations, the Staff Level Agreement a New three-year USD 5.5 bn EFF Program was reached.
