Ihor Buhrak Heads Financial Control Office

On February 6th, Oksana Markarova, the Minister of Finance, presented Ihor Buhrak, the Head of the Financial Control Office, to the Ministy's staff . Mr Buhrak will transform the State Audit Service of Ukraine into the institutionally strong body that will analyze information on the use of state financial resources and control measures for high-risk operations, in accordance with the President’s Decree № 837 dated 08 November 2019 "On urgent measures for reform and strengthening of the state".

At the end of the last year, the Government delegated the powers to organize public financial control policies to the Ministry of Finance.

"We have an ambitious and challenging task that is to quickly reorganize State Audit Service into an institutionally strong body that focuses on state-owned companies and public procurement monitoring. We are now working with the Ministry of Economic Development, law enforcement and the Accounting Chamber to provide mechanisms for interaction and avoiding overlapping in functions, providing new tools and improving the information-analytical systems. The Office should take a proper place in the system supervision over the efficiency of use of the state resources,” said Oksana Markarova.

At the same time, necessary amendments to the legislation will be made to optimize the functions, powers and structure of the Office.
