State Debt in May 2021

Ukraine's total state and state-guaranteed debt in the national currency equivalent amounted to UAH 2,516.72 billion (USD 91.52 billion in foreign currency equivalent) as of the end of May 2021. Compared with the previous month, Ukraine's state and state-guaranteed debt decreased by UAH 17.6 billion in UAH equivalent and by USD 190.2 million in USD equivalent. At the same time, the state debt decreased by UAH 16.9 billion (USD 125.5 million), and the state-guaranteed debt decreased by UAH 0.7 billion (USD 64.7 million).

As of the end of May, the state debt amounted to UAH 2,241.18 billion (USD 81.5 billion), of which 44.5% is state domestic debt and 55.5% is state external debt, which consists of loans from international financial organizations (21.3% of total state debt), Eurobonds (30.1%) and other external debt (4%).

The share of state debt in UAH as of the end of May 2021 increased to 39.1%.

In May 2021 the Ministry of Finance held 14 auctions on the placement of government bonds, attracting UAH 20.6 billion for financing the state budget. As of May 31, 2021, the rollover rate for marketable domestic government loan bonds was 107.3%, while the rollover rate for hryvnia-denominated domestic bonds was 123.4% and 76.4% for FX denominated bonds.

In January-April 2021 state debt principal payments amounted to UAH 170.5 billion, while service payments amounted to UAH 64.4 billion.
