Ukraine will receive a €200 million grant from Germany to support IDPs

Today, Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko held a working meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen. During the meeting, Sergii Marchenko signed an Agreement with the Credit Institution for Reconstruction (KfW), and a Separate Agreement to the Grant Agreement within the framework of the Internally displaced person (IDPs) Stability Support Program in Ukraine.

Ukraine will receive a grant in the amount of EUR 200 million to cover the costs of assistance for IDPs. The funds will be directed to the State Budget of Ukraine in the near future.

“I am grateful to the Government of Germany and the team of the Credit Institution for Reconstruction for their extraordinary support during this important historical period for Ukraine. EUR 200 million will help the Government of Ukraine continue to support individuals and families who due to russian aggression were forced to leave their homes and temporarily move to safer regions of Ukraine” Sergii Marchenko said during the signing.

Also, the Minister of Finance of Ukraine emphasized Germany's efforts in supporting Ukraine's interests on the international stage, during their presidency of the G7 this year.

For her part, Anka Feldhusen assured that Germany will continue to support Ukraine's efforts in the fight against the aggressor.

The parties also discussed the state of the financial and economic system of Ukraine, and other projects implemented with the support of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and KfW. Sergii Marchenko noted that since the beginning of the russia’s full-scale armed aggression against Ukraine, EUR 1.5 billion have been raised (including a grant of EUR 200 million) from the Government of Germany. These funds are directed to the budgetary support of priority social expenditures, expenditures in the fields of education and healthcare, IDPs, and state programs to support business.
