Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine Alexander Kava met with France's Special Envoy for Ukraine's Relief and Reconstruction

On 16 November, Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine Aleksander Kava met with France's Special Envoy for Ukraine's Relief and Reconstruction Pierre Heilbronn.

The parties discussed Ukraine's financial needs for 2024, strengthening cooperation under existing projects, new support mechanisms, and cooperation with the IMF.

The Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine thanked the Government of France for its active support of Ukraine and its participation in the recovery process.

"The financial assistance provided by international donors to Ukraine is unprecedented and crucial in the context of russia's armed aggression. France has provided about EUR 400 million in direct budget support to Ukraine since February 2022.  We are grateful to our partners for their comprehensive support since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of russia, as well as for the timely and rhythmic provision of funds, which allows us to maintain macro-financial stability and creates conditions for further recovery," added Alexander Kava.

The parties also stressed that cooperation with the French Development Agency (AFD) will help to intensify further work on reconstruction and attract investment in the private sector of Ukraine.

Pierre Heilbronn, for his part, noted that the French Government is confident in further support for Ukraine and assistance for the needs of recovery.

The recent successful review of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) programme by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was discussed, given that France is one of the countries that has provided financial guarantees of support under the EFF programme. The participants stressed that the effective cooperation of the Government of Ukraine with the Fund is one of the key components in the fight against the consequences caused by russia's armed invasion of Ukraine.

The parties agreed to continue the dialogue on improving the mechanisms for implementing and developing joint projects.
