Sergii Marchenko met with representatives of the European Commission

Today, February 1, Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko and Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine for European Integration Yuriy Draganchuk met with Director-General of DG Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations (NEAR) Gert Jan Koopman and Deputy Director-General of DG NEAR Katarina Mathernova.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the economic situation in Ukraine, the support of international donors and financial organizations, as well as Ukraine's urgent needs for recovery.

Special attention was paid to the discussion of instruments for increasing financial support to cover the priority needs of the State Budget.

EU Macro-Financial Assistance of EUR 18 billion will help finance almost half of the deficit in 2023. Taking into account the efforts of EU partners, as well as USD 9.9 billion from the United States, the need for additional external financing reaches USD 10 billion.

"We are grateful to the European Union for its willingness to stand side by side with us in this complicated time for Ukraine. Macro-Financial Assistance in the amount of EUR 18 billion is one of the key factors supporting financial and economic stability and a guarantee of confidence in the ability to provide all priority social expenditures. Timely and predictable receipt of external funding, as well as cooperation with international partners, remain an important prerequisite for the stable functioning of the military economy," said Sergii Marchenko.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the start of the Multi-Agency Donor Coordination Platform for Ukraine, which is co-chaired by Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko and Director-General of DG NEAR Gert Jan Koopman.

The Minister of Finance also emphasized the need to develop mechanisms for the transparent and effective use of donor funds, ensuring constant interaction within the framework of the work of the new Multi-Agency Donor Coordination Platform for Ukraine.

The first meeting of the Steering Committee for the Multi-Agency Donor Coordination Platform for Ukraine was held on January 26, 2023. The main purpose of the Platform's activities is to ensure close coordination between international donors and financial organizations in order to ensure consistent, transparent and accountable support to Ukraine.
