Ministry of Finance of Ukraine secured a $1.35 billion grant from the United States

Today, Ukraine received a USD 1.35 billion grant from the United States.

This funding will cover essential social and humanitarian expenditures, in particular for support of maintaining core government functions through the payment of salaries of school employees.

The US Government provided funding through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and in coordination with the US Department of the Treasury and the US Department of State. The funds were directed to the State Budget of Ukraine through the World Bank's Public Expenditures for Administrative Capacity Endurance (PEACE) Project.

“Since February 2022, direct budget support from the United States has reached USD 28.2 billion, marking the largest financial assistance to Ukraine from any country in the world. This strong partnership with the US aids the Government of Ukraine in maintaining financial stability and supporting its citizens with essential public services, such as education and rescue services, at the time of russia’s aggression. I am grateful to the leadership and taxpayers of the United States for this critically needed assistance amid the full-scale war,” stated Ukrainian Finance Minister Sergii Marchenko.

For this year, budget support from the US is set at USD 7.8 billion, of which USD 5.2 billion has already been disbursed.

The Ministry of Finance is committed to an accountable and transparent funding process. Together with USAID's State-Owned Enterprises Reform Activity (SOERA) and DBS Audit Activity, it monitors the use of direct budget support from the US Government. Additionally, with auditing firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers Ukraine, an agreed-upon procedures review is being conducted to verify eligible government expenditures made by Ukraine under the PEACE in Ukraine project.
