During 9 months of 2021 institutions of the National Academy of Medical Science provided highly specialized medical services for almost UAH 1 billion

Within the framework of the introduction of the new mechanism of financial support of tertiary (highly specialized) medical care, eight institutions of the National Academy of Medical Science of Ukraine (NAMS) during the 3 quarters of 2021 have provided 33,851 highly specialized medical services. Budget expenditures for the provision of these services amounted to UAH 985.4 million out of a total of UAH 1.8 billion.

In addition, thanks to the state, eight institutions of NAMS made capital expenditures of UAH 327.9 million and purchased the necessary equipment, and improved the conditions for patients in these institutions of the Academy.

According to information from the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, 9,152 highly specialized medical services were provided entirely at the expense of the state budget, it was free of charge for the patients.

At the same time, the average cost of treatment of cardiovascular pathologies amounted to over UAH 65 thousand, neurosurgery - over UAH 100 thousand, operations on hearing aids, and treatment of hearing pathologies - UAH 50 thousand. The provision of another 24,699 services was provided partly at the expense of the budget.

"The Ministry of Finance will further contribute to the transformation of the health care system to ensure that all citizens of Ukraine have access to quality medical services without having to pay extra money of their own because everyone has already paid taxes. Unfortunately, the available resource for healthcare is limited, so the Ministry of Finance urges all institutions and establishments providing medical care to the population, in particular the NAMS institutions, to use the financial resource provided by the state as efficiently as possible", - noted Deputy Minister of Finance Roman Yermolychev.
