UAH 35 billion Spent on Fighting COVID-19 in 2021

According to the preliminary data for the 11 months of 2021, UAH 34.7 billion was spent on the fight against COVID-19.
In particular, funds were spent for the following purposes:

  • payment to healthcare institutions for services provided for inpatient medical care and vaccination of the population under the program of medical guarantees - UAH 17.8 billion. To purchase COVID-19 vaccines - UAH 9.8 billion. Also, Ukraine has already received 11.2 million doses of vaccines from international partners free of charge.
  • payment to institutions of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine for services on hospitalization of patients with COVID-19 - UAH 21.1 million;
  • subventions to provide hospitals with oxygen, rapid tests, and consumables for testing - UAH 584 million;
  • measures for social support of the population in quarantine conditions - UAH 2.9 billion; payment of financial security in connection with a temporary disability - UAH 0.8 billion. 
  • payment of unemployment benefits - UAH 1.5 billion;
  • implementation of measures to fight COVID-19 in educational institutions - UAH 18.3 million;
  • additional payments to the salaries of the National Guard and State Border Guard, civil protection bodies and units, police officers, medical and other employees of departmental healthcare institutions - UAH 0.8 billion.

"During the pandemic COVID-19, it is important to take care of the health of yourself and others. For its part, the Ministry of Finance continues to work on financial support for the development of a healthcare system, in particular, to effectively combat the pandemic," commented Deputy Minister of Finance Roman Yermolychyov.
