European Commission Confirms Ukraine's Fulfillment of Requirements for Receiving Second Tranche of Macro-Financial Assistance – Oksana Markarova

On January 28, in Brussels during the sixth meeting of the EU-Ukraine Association Council, Vice-President of the European Commission for the Euro and Social Dialogue, Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union Valdis Dombrovskis noted that, according to a preliminary assessment, Ukraine has fulfilled all requirements for the second tranche of the fourth EU macro-financial assistance program (MFA4). This was announced by Finance Minister Oksana Markarova.

“I am pleased to mark out the successful development of cooperation with the EU on the fourth MFA4 program. Today, the European Commission confirmed that the Ukrainian side has fulfilled all the necessary conditions to receive the second MFA4 tranche of EUR 500 million, which is extremely important for obtaining long-term concessional resources by Ukraine and supporting the reform program. It helps us to keep the state finances stable while the government works to improve the investment climate and accelerate economic growth,” said Oksana Markarova.

The fourth EUR 1 billion Macro-Financial Assistance Program was approved by the EU in June and ratified by the Parliament of Ukraine in November 2018. The first tranche of EUR 500 million was received by Ukraine on December 11, 2018.
